Menai Swim Academy on Facebook

About Us

Menai Swim Academy was a vision from a local family that has lived in the Sutherland Shire since 1982. The founder Noel Harris originally obtained his Bronze Medallion at Bronte Beach in 1966 and with this came the understanding of how important and crucial the education of water safety is. With the expansion of his family he passed his education on to his sons by involving them in most community based water sports within the area.

Learning to swim at Aquadot Swim School was the beginning of a road to success. As members of the Aquadot Swim Club, Cronulla SLSC and Elouera SLSC both boys became elite competitors and won medals at both State and National Levels. In 1999 the vision of providing the local community with a professional indoor swim school was born. The Menai district was booming with development and seemed the perfect area for a Learn to Swim Facility.

The pool opened for business in July 2001 and we were overwhelmed with the response and support of the Sutherland Shire. Over the years through further education and international experience we can proudly say that our vision is alive, we provide the local community with a professional Learn to Swim Centre and have great involvement with local schooling and sporting communities.

Our Mission

Menai Swim Academy's aim is to provide a modern indoor facility in the Menai District and thereby create an environment opportunity where potential champions can be developed under the watchful eyes of qualified instructors and coaches .

With our learn to swim program as well as teaching the children basic skills and water safety awareness, we intend to vary the learning process with the introduction of aquatic games which will be an enjoyable diversion at the same time will build their water confidence. Classes are to be of limited numbers so that the parents will be assured their children receive maximum tuition.

The nucleus of Menai Swim Academy staff will be permanent employees so that more often then not the children will have a regular teacher. Menai Swim Academy's staff's collective experience had been that such an arrangement is necessary to accelerate progress in learning the swimming skills.
